Welcome to the PA Political Digest newsletter. I’m your guide, 40-year veteran GOP political consultant Christopher Nicholas. The goal here is to give you sharp analysis of PA politics and campaigns writ large.
I grew up in Bucks County, Pa., graduated from American University and then did my “graduate school” on the road by working five campaigns in four states in the late 80’s.
Tired of packing everything I owned into a U-Haul twice a year, I settled in Harrisburg in 1990 to serve as Political Director of the PA HRCC, and in 1991 started my Republican political consulting firm, Eagle Consulting Group. We work for GOP campaigns, conservative and business trade groups and conservative Independent Expenditure outfits.
In 2023 I started its content creation division, PA Political Digest, by producing and hosting a 6-part podcast series, A stroll through the annals of PA political corruption. And this year I began writing this, the PA Political Digest (PPD) newsletter. I’ve written on politics and campaigns for years, and from late 2011-2015 I wrote pegALERT, the weekly political newsletter for the old PA Business Council.
What others are saying about PPD:
“I support this work because I always learn something new from Chris that I hadn't realized before. His breadth of experience is impressive.”
Dennis Owens, ABC27 Anchor/Capitol Reporter
“I campaigned in three statewide elections as Justice and Chief Justice and I presented the Court’s budget to the House, Senate and Governor for six consecutive years so I appreciate the political process and I like to be current with politics across the Commonwealth. Chris can deliver with all his experience.”
Ron Castille, former Chief Justice, PA Supreme Court
